Comparison of all three blogs


  • In the printed magazine it was limited to that particular magazine. However, in the digital editorial website it had a navigation bar which the user could choose different subjects.

  • Use of different typography, to distinguish from a title to a paragraph, was used for all three blogs.

  • Use of advertisements were used for the app and the printed magazine.

  • Different styles of orientation where used for articles, regarding the app. With regards to the printed magazine different orientation was used for posters.

  • A lot of images were used in all blogs.
    • Patterns inside text to make it more decorative and appealing for the user.

  • Different column grid layouts were used for articles with regards the app. With the digital editorial website column grid layout to show all the articles regarding the website.With regards the printed magazine different grid layouts were used to define the article.

  • The digital editorial website had also the logo which the app and the printed magazine don't have. As the app focuses on the event which it is hosting and the printed magazine focuses on the genre that it is focusing on.

    • Under the title shows how long has that particular editorial website been on the website.

      • second column: Latest Websites - A list of all the recent websites submitted.

        • Mailing List - users give their emails to receive recent news on the website.

        • Displays all the social media the users can connect with the website
        • Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, feedburner, email.

Analysing and Breaking Down Magazines

In class we were given a magazine to analyse any observations noted in the magazine. Some differences that were pointed out were:

  • The different text used for each article.
    • Decoration around subtitle to attract and encourage the user to read.

  • Drop caps used at the beginning of the article.
    • Used so that the designer points the user from where he/she should start reading.

  • Pink colour set as a background colour for the front page showing different titles of certain articles throughout the magazine.
    • The magazine itself attracts punk and young generations.

  • Pages are divided into different sections to fit more articles.
    • Page breaks to show that the article has finished and a new article is going to start.
